Project Days at Wilbur Wright

In Champagné, several days were dedicated to the Project day activities, and pupils were involved in various workshops:

  • An art competition has been organized among a first form class : Pairs of pupils had to represent in a shoe box either a typical European building, or a typical meal. They worked at home and in the library (to collect information) during more than two weeks.
  • The whole school has been encouraged to join the art project "European Monuments".
  • The four third-form classes (more than 100 pupils) spent two/three hours in the library doing research on either:
      • Polish, German, British flags
      • the Brandeburg Gate, Big Ben, the Wawel castle
      • the different forms of government in our partner countries and they all produced posters or files.
  • A fourth-form class studied poems from Poland, Britain, France and Germany and worked on a loud voice collective reading.
  • Two second-form classes produced posters in English on our traditional festivals and bank holidays.
  • The four third-form classes brought home the surveys on every day life, national stereotypes and our relation to Europe
  • A first form class worked on the Greek myth of Europe and produced posters.

We can say that more than 250 pupils directly worked on the project, and that the whole school has been concerned with the art competition and the vote. Two History teachers, two French teachers, the Art teacher and an English teacher have been involved.
