 21/03 2011: 4th TIE meeting at GBN

The last meeting of the Comenius project "Together in Europe" was held in Bad Nenndorf from 14th - 19th March, this time including six students from each visiting school, often people who had been hosts before and that is why a lot of students already knew each other before coming.
At the beginning the meeting focussed on the presentation of the project days which had taken place during January and February this year and which had centred around the question of non-European influences on us and the way we deal with them. The participants got to know that at St Monica's, for example, a neighbouring school with a mainly Muslim attendance had been invited to present their steeldrums club - mainly consisting of girls wearing a veil - in the main hall. more 01/03 2011: 2nd project day at Wilbur Wright

This year, we had so many ideas to celebrate our Project Day that...we organised a Project Week!
All the youngest pupils (year 6) took part in a great art / French language competition: they were asked to pick up a French word with a non-European origin, to write the definition of this word, and to illustrate it. Some words are obviously of non-European origin, like sushi or kimono, but some others sound very French, like jupe or abricot. In year 4, pupils had to answer to different cultural surveys about the films they like, the music they listen to. Posters were made to show the results. read more
